Both youths and adults will get a chance at purchasing a new wardrobe for a popular collectible Sunday, April 22, at the Golden Hobby Gift Shop in German Village.

The 18-inch Doll Party will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the shop, 630 S. Third St.

“It’s a tradition for girls and their mothers or fathers or other doll fans,” said Andrea O’Neal, a Golden Hobby volunteer.

Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for those 17 years old and younger. Reservations can be made by calling 614-645-8329.

Linda Lorenz, co-manager of the senior-consignment gift shop, said the Doll Party is a fundraiser.

The event draws people from far and wide, looking to purchase exclusive outfits for their doll collection, Lorenz said.

“It’s quality work for amazing prices – and they’re one of a kind,” she said. “They are not mass-produced.”

The soiree will have a style show, bingo with prizes, crafts, face-painting, refreshments, and a raffle featuring a 2018 American Girl doll.

Lorenz said it’s a great opportunity for youngsters and adults to spend time together and meet other people with similar interests.

“The fact that it’s been around for so long, as we have, it truly bridges the generation gap,” she said.

“I just think it’s a nice afternoon that gets them away from their computers and games and cultivates a lot of things that I think are worth cultivating.”

“The Doll Party is a delightfully fun event,” added Nancy Colvin, spokeswoman for Columbus Recreation and Parks Department which operates the Golden Hobby Gift Shop.

“The style show and unique, handmade doll clothes and accessories are a huge hit,” she said. “Our volunteers look forward to it almost as much as the guests who come back year after year.”
