Whitehall police arrested a 13-year-old boy for felonious assault, a second-degree felony, after he reportedly assaulted a family member and attempted to stab a boy at a Duke Road residence April 29.

Police were dispatched to the residence at 8:35 p.m. April 29 and observed family members restraining the boy. They they saw him and his sister fighting, reports said.

Witnesses told police the boy and his cousin had engaged in a fight stemming from one of the boys teasing another boy.

The boy's sister, a 16-year-old girl, became involved in the physical confrontation and he reportedly threatened her child.

The girl's 16-year-old boyfriend intervened, according to reports.

The 13-year-old boy then retrieved a steak knife and allegedly attempted to stab the 16-year-old boy.

An adult family member disarmed the boy, reports said.

Based on the accounts of all the witnesses, police arrested the 13-year-old boy.

In an interview, the boy reportedly denied making any threats but admitted to getting a knife because he feared his sister and her boyfriend would assault him.

The boy was transported to the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center and police advised Children Services "due to ongoing issues" at the residence, according to reports.

* Police arrested an 18-year-old man for criminal trespassing and possession of drugs, both misdemeanors, at 10:30 p.m. May 1 at a residence in the 4400 block of Saint Ann Lane.

A resident called police to report an unknown man had entered a garage without permission.

Police arrived to find the man sitting on a chair in the garage and rolling a marijuana cigarette.

When the man saw police, he came out and said, "I just did it because I'm homeless," according to reports.

The owner reported a trash can was moved next to the garage and police observed a piece of plywood was removed to enter the garage, reports said.

No property was reported missing.

* Burglaries were reported at 8:15 a.m. May 1 in the 4200 block of Beechlawn Road; at 4:30 p.m. May 1 in the 400 block of Erickson Avenue; and at 5 p.m. May 1 in the 400 block of South Yearling Road.

* Thefts were reported at 10:10 a.m. April 27 in the 4300 block of Etna Road; at 7:25 p.m. April 27 in the 3600 block of East Broad Street; at 9:15 p.m. April 27 in the 900 block of South Hamilton Road; at 6 a.m. April 28 in the 4200 block of Rickenbacker Avenue; at 11:25 a.m. April 28 in the 700 block of Elaine Road; at 2:45 p.m. April 30 in the 4500 block of East Main Street; and at 8:25 p.m. April 30 in the 600 block of Greenwood Place.

* Property destruction was reported at 8:5 p.m. April 27 in the 100 block of Beechford Road; at 5:25 p.m. April 28 in the 300 block of South Yearling Road; and at 10:20 a.m. April 29 in the 4200 block of Yearling Circle.
