Gahanna residents can enjoy free concerts from new and returning musical acts this summer as part of downtown Gahanna's Creekside Live series.

The Gahanna Recreation and Parks Department invites guests to experience live music and entertainment, beginning with John Schwab and Molly Pauken and headlining country rock band, The Simba Jordan Band, on June 8.

Presented by Lew Griffin Insurance, this year's concert series will be held each second and fourth Friday, until Aug. 24, at Creekside Plaza, 117 Mill St.

Each opening act will begin at 6 p.m. followed by the headliner at 7:30 p.m.

"We're very appreciative of the support we have from Gahanna area businesses and community partners to host Creekside Live," said Tom Kneeland, Gahanna mayor. "Thanks to their continued investment, we have been able to continue this community tradition and grow this event."

Guests are invited to bring a lawn chair to the outdoor concerts or find seating around Creekside Park and Plaza.

Gahanna businesses including El Arepazo Latin Grill, Barrel & Boar, Cold Stone Creamery, Local Cantina, Old Bag of Nails, Pigskin Brewery Company and Signatures Millstone Tavern will be open before the concerts and offer carry-out items to enjoy outside.

"We are thrilled to have this series continue this summer," said Jeff Barr, Gahanna Parks and Recreation director. "Creekside Live is a growing tradition that brings Gahanna families, young professionals and visitors to Gahanna to showcase our downtown amenities and support our local businesses."

Previews of at least one act for each concert can be viewed with the Mug & Brush "Mug Sessions," an acoustic or scaled-down performance, online at themugandbrush sessions.com or on the Gahanna Parks and Recreation Facebook page, facebook.com/ GahannaParksRec/.

Proceeds from beverage sales will benefit the Gahanna Parks and Recreation Foundation, a 501c3 organization which provides camp scholarships, park improvements and public art to the Gahanna community.
