A Columbus man was arrested after allegedly kicking down a woman's door and assaulting her in the 1200 block of Whitney Lane on the night of May 22 when the two got into an argument.

When the woman asked the man to leave, the man reportedly hit her in the face with the back of his hand and walked out the door, according to reports.

The woman told police she tried to close and lock the door, but the man reportedly had taken a key she did not give him and attempted to unlock the door. When the woman pushed the door closed, the man allegedly kicked in the door, breaking the door frame and lock, reports stated.

He reportedly walked upstairs, left once more and drove away.

When police arrived, the woman declined medical assistance, but said she noticed one of her house keys was missing from its usual location.

The 52-year-old man was arrested at his Columbus residence days later. He was charged with assault, burglary and domestic violence, and was taken to the Franklin County jail, according to reports. He reportedly declined to make a comment.

According to reports, employees arrived at the building on the morning of May 21 to find four buses had broken windshields, while another had dents in its hood.

A metal water drain cover was found lying in the area, which police believe was used in the vandalism, largely because of a "round imprint" similar to the cover that was found on a bus, reports stated.

Police viewed security footage from the building and reported it showed a person who seemed to have committed the vandalism, but could find no identifiable suspects.
