The concept behind the Garden Bar Cafe is simple.
"We're trying to give Grove City a healthier choice for dining. Our fast-pace lifestyle doesn't mean we have to settle for fast food," said Michele Robison, the cafe's owner.
Robison has been operating the Garden Bar since January in the former location of the Tin Box Cafe, 3989 Broadway.
The restaurant will hold its grand opening from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 21, with Mayor Richard "Ike" Stage holding a ribbon-cutting at 5:30 p.m.
"I wanted to have all the details and menu offerings finalized before we held our grand opening," Robison said. "I didn't want us to have to say to people 'we will be having this or that on our menu.' "
What is on the menu is boxed lunches and healthy snack plates featuring a variety of sandwiches and wraps with healthy ingredients.
"Probably our most popular sandwich is chicken salad," Robison said. "I have to keep making it daily to keep up with the demand."
Earlier this month, the Garden Bar began offering smoothies and fresh-pressed juicing.
"Our smoothies are all vegan, made with almond milk," Robison said.
The three- or five-day juice detox gives customers the opportunity to cleanse their bodies, she said.
"I put a sign up in our window that says 'Living Whole Body, Mind and Soul,' " Robison said. "I think it takes all three together to be living whole. A juice detox is how to address your body's needs.
"Detoxing gives our bodies and organs a rest," she said. "It's like an oil change for the body. Once you've completed your detox, you'll feel a lot better and will be ready to move forward eating healthier foods."
In the detoxing, customers receive four juices a day, Robison said.
"The breakfast juice is a high-energy boost to get your day started, then you have another juice at 10 a.m., noon and then another at 2 p.m. to pick you up at that time of the day when you start to drag," she said. "Then for dinner you can have a nice salad or a piece of salmon."
Some people choose to extend the detox by using one of the four juices as dinner, Robison said.
The Garden Bar offers vegan and vegetarian options and salads along with its sandwiches and wraps.
The cafe is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Wednesdays and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays.
Orders for delivery or pickup can be made online at thegardenbar.cafe or by calling 614-594-3989.
The cafe also offers catering services.
"We're offering a healthy alternative for businesses that are having a meeting or seminar, instead of just ordering pizza or other less healthy food for lunch," she said.
The cafe also offers a way for people living, working or visiting the Town Center to grab a quick lunch that doesn't mean settling for a burger or other less-healthful dishes, Robison said.
The eatery accepts cash, credit, debit and Apple or Android payments.
