It's a warm sunny evening, in the distance you hear music, under your feet are the well-worn bricks of German Village, you turn the corner onto Macon Alley and ahead of you is a subtle explosion of art; you, are at Art Crawl.

The German Village Art Crawl, presented by CoverMyMeds on July 21, will be an immersive experience pairing the charm of German Village with the vibrant colors and creativity of local artists and musicians.

This is not your typical Saturday morning art show of tents, tables and concrete, this is the night we turn garages into galleries and transform an otherwise ordinary alley into an extraordinary showcase of local art, music, food and drink.

Whether you've been coming to Art Crawl for years, or this will be your very first, here are the 5 things you need to know to make the most of this unique event.

1: Redefine your definition of art. We are adding art, art and more art to the alley.

We will have 38 exhibiting artists showcasing mediums from acrylic and watercolor to glass, jewelry, mixed media and more. Three of our artists will be demonstrating their craft letting you learn, participate and engage.

But the art doesn't stop there. We'll have live art throughout the alley. You will find everything from life-size creations roaming the alley to fire-spinning creatives.

2: Celebrating local art means celebrating local music, too. Two stages grace the alley, the Bier Garten stage and the Art Crawl Main Stage. Both will be jam packed with local talent and music ranging from local pop sensations, to the Jazz Arts Group, a local improv group, rock 'n' roll and more. Come prepared to boogie the night away on our bricks.

3: Look forward to the perfect compliments for the art and music. Art Crawl is keeping it local with craft beer provided by Wolf's Ridge Brewing, Platform Beer Co and Hofbrauhaus Columbus.

But what if hoppy delights aren't your thing? We'll have wine provided by Hausfrau Haven and spirits provided by Middle West Spirits.

And, of course, we'll have local food trucks too! Seminary Hill Farm, a certified organic farm located just outside of Columbus, will be serving fresh summer bites straight from their farm. And Giant Eagle will be serving up festival favorites.

All drinks and food will be available through the purchase of tokens.

4: Plastic be gone. We are taking steps to eliminate plastic on the alley, and here's what that means for you: plan to bring your own reusable water bottle to stay hydrated at our water refill station. We will be eliminating more than 1,000 plastic water bottles on Macon Alley by providing this water refill station, but we're not stopping there.

We are also doing away with plastic cups for your libations. We will be offering reusable cups for your beer, wine and spirits. These are cups that you can bring back year after year and sip from with pride knowing you've contributed to a more sustainable event.

5: Looking to take your experience to the next level? New this year to Art Crawl is a VIP program. Our VIP tickets will get you a first look at the alley, an extra hour to shop the art, an open bar from 3-7 p.m., delicious bites from Barcelona, a private performance from Meredith Eddy, private entrance and lounge area and of course, VIP swag.

Tickets are limited and only a few remain, so if this sounds like your kind of experience, head to germanvillage.com to purchase.

With these five insider tips you can't go wrong. Just be sure to purchase your tickets before they sell out, and we will see you on Macon Alley July 21 from 4 to 9 p.m.
