Following are Columbus and Franklin County Metropolitan Park District programs for July 12-19.

Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park

1775 Darby Creek Drive, Galloway

Brown Bag Special, 11:30 a.m. July 13 at the Ranger Station. Guests can eat their picnic lunch and meet some reptiles and amphibians that live in the park.

Bats, 8 p.m. July 13 at the Nature Center. Guests can watch for bats flying and catching their food.

Photo Group: High Speed Sync Photography, 10 a.m. July 14 at the Nature Center. Participants ages 18 and older can learn techniques and creative uses of high-speed flash.

Family Creeking Adventure, 1 p.m. July 14 at the Ranger Station. Guests will catch fish, bugs and crawdads in the creek.

Yoga in the Park, 11:30 a.m. July 14 at the Ranger Station. Guests can learn yoga movements in an outdoor setting to rejuvenate mind and body. Participants should bring a mat or blanket.

Seasonal Photography of the Darby, 7 p.m. July 14 at the Nature Center. Guests are invited for a seasonal look at the seldom seen areas of the Darby watershed through the eyes of a photographer. Photo composition techniques will be discussed.

Feed the Stream, 2 p.m. July 15 at the Nature Center. Guests can enjoy the fish feeding frenzy by feeding them worms, crickets and minnows.

Blacklick Woods Metro Park

6975 E. Livingston Ave., Reynoldsburg

Fireflies, 8:30 p.m. July 13 at the Meadows Picnic Area. Guests can examine fireflies during a catch-and-release program.

Dragons and Damsels, 3 p.m. July 15 at the Ash Grove Picnic Area. Guests can explore the world of dragonflies and damselflies and learn how to identify these fast-flying predators.

Nature Kids: Geology Rocks, 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. July 16 at the Beech Maple Lodge. Guests can learn the basics about common rocks and minerals.

Metro Five-0: Level 3 Walk of the Month, 11 a.m. July 18 at the Ash Grove Picnic Area. Visitors ages 50 and older can take a 2-mile walk to discover the sight and sounds of the season.

Blendon Woods Metro Park

4265 E. Dublin-Granville Road, Westerville

Weekend Kick-Off: Amphibians, 1, 3 and 6 p.m. July 13 at the Nature Center. Children ages 3-10 can listen to a story, make a craft to take home and meet a live amphibian or two.

Butterfly Search, 2 p.m. July 14 at the Nature Center. Guests can look for butterflies and caterpillars to take back to the Nature Center.

Cool Insect Display, 2 to 5 p.m. July 15 at the Nature Center. Guests can learn about the lives of cool insects in a cool building.

Preschoolers: Water, Water Everywhere, 9:30 and 11 a.m. as well as 1:30 p.m. July 18 and 19 at the Nature Center. Guests can learn about the importance of water and the creatures that depend on it, then cool off with some water fun.

Glacier Ridge Metro Park

9801 Hyland Croy Road, Plain City

Evening Bike Ride, 8:30 p.m. July 13 in the Shelter House. Children ages 8 and older will go an 8.5-mile ride and search for wildlife.

Walk and Woof, 7 p.m. July 18 at the Shelter House. Children ages 6 and older can participate in a 2.5-mile hike with their dog.

Highbanks Metro Park

9466 U.S. Route 23 N., Lewis Center

Preschoolers: River Explorers, 9:30 and 11 a.m. July 12 at the Big Meadows Picnic Area. Guests can wade into the river for a closer look at its creatures.

Creature Feature: Amphibians, 1 p.m. July 13 at the Nature Center. Children ages 2-5 can visit with live amphibians and learn amazing facts about these creatures.

10TV and Metro Parks Outdoor Adventure, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 14 at the Nature Center. This free celebration of summer will feature playing in the creek, climbing a rock wall, sack races, facepainting, archery and live animals.

Ranger Run, 7 p.m. July 17 at the Big Meadows Picnic Area. Guests can meet the ranger for a 3-mile jog through Highbanks. Gravel path, moderate to difficult.

Homestead

4675 Cosgray Road, Hilliard

Summer Entertainment Series: Columbus Zoo, 7 p.m. July 12 at the Amphitheater. Guests are invited for a one-hour performance featuring animals from the Columbus Zoo & Aquarium.

Wildlife Search Bingo, 2 p.m. July 15 at the Nature Center. Guests can pick up a bingo game board and look for items on the list. Five in a row will win a prize.

Inniswood Metro Gardens

940 S. Hempstead Road, Westerville

Sunny Sundays, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sundays at the Herb Garden. Members of the Herb Society of America, Central Ohio Unit will answer visitors' questions.

Wellness in the Gardens: Martial Arts, 10 a.m. July 14 at the Education Pavilion. Guests can join masters Jeff and Shelley Green from Tamarack TKD for a martial-arts demonstration and try-it session. Participants will learn a few taekwondo kicks and punches, hit pads, experience a grounding meditation and participate in agility and fitness activities.

Metro Five-0: Level 2 Weird and Wonderful Trees, 2 p.m. July 15 at the Gardens Entrance. Visitors ages 50 and older can discover some of Inniswood's trees on a walk through the gardens.

Evening Garden Walk, 7 p.m. July 15 at the Gardens Entrance. Guests will take a guided stroll through the gardens.

Summer Children's Programs: Bugs for Lunch, 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. July 17 and 18 at the Education Pavilion. Children ages 8 and younger can learn about insects that serve as food for other animals in the garden ecosystem.

Rocky Fork Metro Park

7180 Walnut St., Westerville

Stroller Stroll, 10 a.m. July 13 at the Millstone Shelter. Guests can bring their child in a stroller or backpack for a 1.5-mile hike.

Baby Birds, 9 a.m. July 15 at the Millstone Shelter. Guests can walk 2 miles over paved and natural surface trails looking for baby birds.

Scioto Audubon Metro Park

400 W. Whittier St., Columbus

Late Nights at the Climbing Wall, second and fourth Fridays at the Climbing Wall. The climbing wall will stay open until midnight for Late Nights at the Climbing Wall programs, which will be held through October. There will be four auto belays, but climbers must bring their own climbing harness. Late night fishing also is available from the dock on the Scioto River.

Pre-K Storytime, 10 a.m. Thursdays and Saturdays at the Grange Insurance Audubon Center, 505 W. Whittier St. Bring little ones for a nature-inspired story or two.

Birdwatching for Beginners, 10 a.m. Saturdays at the Grange Insurance Audubon Center. Guests will learn how to use binoculars and search for birds.

Scioto Grove Metro Park

5172 Jackson Pike, Grove City

Greenways Bike Tour 2018, 9 a.m. July 14 at the Arrowhead Shelter. Guests can take part in the third annual Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks Bike Tour.

Sharon Woods Metro Park

6911 Cleveland Ave., Westerville

Lunchtime Chat: Time Machine Tram Ride, noon July 18 at the Schrock Lake Picnic Shelter. Guests can travel back in time to uncover the history of the park.

Slate Run Living Historical Farm

1375 state Route 674 N., Canal Winchester

Horse-Powered Grain Threshing, 1 p.m. July 14 and 15 at the Farmhouse. Guests can see horses power machinery that separates grain from straw.

Three Creeks Park

3860 Bixby Road, Groveport

Fishing Around the Pond, 7 p.m. July 17 at the Heron Pond. Guests ages 6-15 can cast a line and try to catch a fish. Poles and bait will be available.
