A Columbus police sergeant who until recently served as the division’s spokesman is accused of downloading child pornography to his personal cell phone.

Sgt. Dean Worthington, 51, was indicted Wednesday by a Franklin County grand jury on three counts of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor and one count of illegal use of a minor in nudity oriented material, all second-degree felonies.

Worthington was relieved of his duties on July 17. The division announced at the time that he was under investigation by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office but provided no other details.
