Grandview Heights City School District intervention specialist Brandon Theiss has died, Superintendent Andy Culp announced July 27.

Theiss, 39, worked with students at Edison Intermediate/Larson Middle School and Grandview Heights High School.

The district's crisis team met July 27 to develop a plan of action to support Theiss' family, students, staff and the community, Culp said.

District officials have communicated with school staff, students and families who worked with Theiss, he said.

The district will offer an opportunity for students, parents and staffers to gather together and meet individually or in small groups with counselors from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 28, at Edison Intermediate/Larson Middle School, 1240 Oakland Ave. Separate spaces will be set up for parents, students and staff to meet with counselors from Grandview Heights Schools and Syntero Counseling. Common spaces will also be set up for groups to meet and hear more information.

Culp said funeral arrangements are pending and more information will be provided when it becomes available as to how community members can best support Theiss' wife, Janel, and their two daughters.
