Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park

1775 Darby Creek Drive, Galloway

Preschoolers: Let's Get Squirrely, 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Sept. 28 at the Nature Center. Guests can learn why squirrels are so nutty.

Deciduous is Delicious, 11 a.m. Sept. 29 at the Nature Center. Guests can take a short walk and learn about the treats that trees and shrubs provide.

Mantis Mania, 1 p.m. Sept. 30 at the Nature Center. Guests can hunt for these insects and watch them eat.

Blacklick Woods Metro Park

6975 E. Livingston Ave., Reynoldsburg

Nature Tram, 3 p.m. Sept. 29 at the Ash Grove Picnic Area. Guests can take a tram ride through the park.

Blendon Woods Metro Park

4265 E. Dublin-Granville Road, Westerville

Homeschool: White-Tailed Wonders, 1 to 2 p.m. Sept. 27. Guests can learn about the history and ecology of deer.

Pre-Game at the Park, noon Sept. 29 at the Nature Center. Guests can make a buckeye necklace; roast hot dogs and s'mores over a fire; enter the punt, pass and kick contest; and take a nature hike.

Glacier Ridge Metro Park

9801 Hyland Croy Road, Plain City

Welcome to the Fall Festival, 1 p.m. Sept. 30 at the Shelter House. Guests can celebrate the season with hayrides, live animals, crafts and activities.

Highbanks Metro Park

9466 U.S. Route 23 N., Lewis Center

Campfire and S'Mores, 7 p.m. Sept. 28 at the Nature Center. Guests can enjoy a campfire, roast s'mores and take a short hike.

Metro Five-0: Level 3 Fall Blooms, 10 a.m. Oct. 1 at the Nature Center. Guests can join a naturalist on a 1-mile hike to look for late blooms.

Inniswood Metro Gardens

940 S. Hempstead Road, Westerville

Sunny Sundays, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sundays at the Herb Garden. Members of the Herb Society of America, Central Ohio Unit will answer visitors' questions.

Metro Five-0: Level 2 Gardening for Insects, 2 p.m. Sept. 30 at the Innis House. Guests ages 50 and older can learn about fall garden insects, including how to attract the beneficial ones and deter the less desirable ones.

Scioto Audubon Metro Park

400 W. Whittier St., Columbus

Late Nights at the Climbing Wall, second and fourth Fridays at the Climbing Wall. The climbing wall will stay open until midnight for Late Nights at the Climbing Wall programs, which will be held through October. There will be four auto belays, but climbers must bring their own climbing harness. Late night fishing also is available from the dock on the Scioto River.

Pre-K Storytime, 10 a.m. Thursdays and Saturdays at the Grange Insurance Audubon Center, 505 W. Whittier St. Bring little ones for a nature-inspired story or two.

Birdwatching for Beginners, 10 a.m. Saturdays at the Grange Insurance Audubon Center. Guests will learn how to use binoculars and search for birds.

Preschool Storytime, 10 to 11 a.m. Sept. 27 at the Grange Insurance Audubon Center. Guests can bring their little ones for a nature-inspired story or two.

Conservation Connection Series: Important Birds of the IBA, 6:30 p.m. Oct. 4 at the Grange Insurance Audubon Center. Birder Randy Rogers will talk about the Scioto-Greenlawn Important Bird Area and birds that can be seen during the Oct. 6 Big Sit.

Sharon Woods Metro Park

6911 Cleveland Ave., Westerville

Preschoolers: Lucky Ladybugs, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., 11 a.m. to noon and 1 to 2 p.m. Sept. 27 at Spring Hollow. Children ages 3-5 can explore the world of ladybugs through a story, craft and other activities.

Three Creeks Park

3860 Bixby Road, Groveport

Metro Five-0: Level 3 A Forest Walk, 10 a.m. Sept. 29 at the Confluence Area. Guests ages 50 and older can take a 2-mile walk through the creekside forest and discover how animals and plants prepare for winter.

Leaf Collecting 101, 1:30 p.m. Sept. 30 at the Confluence Area. Guests can start a leaf collection and learn how to identify and preserve leaves.
