The Village Singers are pretty vocal about making the holiday season a good one.

The group will perform "It's a Marshmallow World" on Dec. 8 and 9 at the Meeting Haus, 588 S. Third St.

The 17th annual Christmas concert will close the Singers' season.

"It will be a typical performance," said Wayne Owens, founder and general manager of the group.

Traditional sacred and secular holiday songs will be part of the lineup, as well as more contemporary pieces, such as Kelly Clarkson's "Underneath the Tree."

Singers also will perform a portion of Bach's "Jauchzet frohlocket," which will be sung in German.

"It's challenging, very challenging," Owens said. "And we like that. It's good."

Any singer of any range in central Ohio is welcome to join the choir, which practices at 7 p.m. Mondays at the Meeting Haus.

Auditions aren't necessary. Vocalists will be accepted through mid-October. A $25 fee for joining for the season is required.

Accompanist Quinton Jones will return for his 10th season.

Nick Klein will direct the ensemble for the Christmas show.

"They have a lot of difficult music," Klein said.
