The city of Powell will celebrate its heroes during its annual Veterans Day ceremony Monday, Nov. 12, beginning at 11 a.m. at the city's Village Green Park, 47 Hall St.
The program will feature a keynote speaker, music and lunch.
Sgt. John Bernans, a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, will deliver an address titled "A Promise that Must Be Kept."
Bernans served with the 3rd Marine Division in Vietnam from 1960-66.
When he returned, he was a firefighter and paramedic for 40 years and the first full-time fire chief for the Liberty Township Fire Department.
After the ceremony, a free luncheon will be offered for any veterans and military personnel and their families and friends.
In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved inside to council chambers.
