Prairie Township soon will have a new administrator.
Trustees unanimously approved a resolution Nov. 20 to hire Robert Peters at an annual base salary of $115,000.
Peters is currently the economic development director for the city of Streetsboro.
The contract stipulates that Peters will receive a $500 monthly car allowance and has five weeks of vacation per year, according to trustees’ chairman Steve Kennedy.
He takes over as administrator Jan. 7, Kennedy said.
The three trustees and township department heads will fill in for Tracy Hatmaker after he officially retires at the end of November.
Hatmaker has served as township administrator since 2003. A retirement reception for Hatmaker is slated from 2 to 5 p.m. Nov. 30 at the community center, 5955 W. Broad St.
The township paid Cincinnati-based Novak Consulting $25,000 to lead a nationwide search for its next administrator.
Peters was chosen from a pool of 57 candidates, Kennedy said. He has previous experience in city management and as a parks director, he said.
“I think he’s very well cross-trained and I think he’ll make an excellent administrator,” Kennedy said.
