A 21-year-old man was charged by Hilliard Division of Police officers at 12:15 p.m. Nov. 28 for possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, after he was found smoking marijuana in the back seat of a vehicle near the 5500 block of Maple Dell Court in a residential neighborhood.

The officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle that was parked on Hilliard City Schools property near athletics fields north of Hilliard Darby High School, 4200 Leppert Road, Lt. Ron Clark said.

They found one person smoking marijuana in the back seat of the vehicle. He was issued a summons and released, Clark said.

* A cellphone worth $400 was reported stolen between 10:10 and 10:15 a.m. Nov. 27 from Darby High School.

* Cigarettes worth $206 were reported stolen between 2:30 and 2:35 p.m. Nov. 28 from a business in the 4600 block of Cemetery Road.
