Blogging, a concept once foreign to many people, is now one of the fastest-growing channels of communication.

It has proven to be more than a fad and is, in many cases, a source of credible and relevant information. For this reason, blogging is an important subject to explore when talking about real estate.

Today, information is available via television, radio, newspapers, magazines, cell phones and the Web, and never before have we been able to get information with such speed. Our society craves information, and blogging is the newest and freshest way to get it. Research has proven that people interested in buying or selling a home are actively using the Internet as a source for information. Because of that, some real estate companies are partnering with blog companies to provide agents with the opportunity to start a blog.

As a consumer, a real estate blog is a useful way to learn about agents, the industry and what an individual agent or company can offer. It is also a way to gain knowledge and insight about properties and neighborhoods. Those agents with blogs also have to ability to post virtual tours and photos of homes.

Blogging is just one of the many innovative marketing tools that real estate agents are using to help consumers buy and sell homes and is of great benefit to both buyers and sellers.

In fact, blogging has become so relevant and important to all businesses that the founders of Sellsiusƒ Blog, a real estate blog, are embarking on a cross-country tour to promote blogging and mingle with and provide education to current and future bloggers. And Blog Tour USA is making a stop in Columbus on Friday, July 13.

Blog Tour USA kicked off its 8,000-mile, 24-city journey on June 30 in New York City. The 25-foot RV will make stops in cities including Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Orlando, Miami, Tampa, Atlanta, Chicago, Denver, Columbus and others. The tour will end July 31 in San Francisco at the first Blogger Connect.

The tour, intended to educate on blogging and to discuss and share success stories with both experienced and novice bloggers, may also be made into a documentary. Founders Joseph Ferrara and Rudolph Bachraty are documenting their experiences while on the road.

The stop in Columbus is open to all Ohio bloggers from any industry. The purpose of the event is to provide an atmosphere where skilled and new bloggers can mingle, learn the tricks of the trade and have fun while celebrating blogging.

The Blog Bus will stop for a picnic at the Real Living HER office at 5902 N. High St. in Worthington, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information, call (614) 888-7400 or visit BlogTourUSA.com.
