The Gahanna Lincoln High School wrestling program is seeking a new coach for the second consecutive offseason, as Matt Hammons recently stepped down after just one season.

According to athletics director Dustin Cullen, Hammons resigned because of “family commitments.”

Hammons coached Olentangy for nine seasons from 2003-12 and coached Jones Middle School in Upper Arlington in the 2015-16 season before arriving at Gahanna to replace Kyle Bentley.

In Hammons’ only season, Gahanna went 3-2 to place second in the OCC-Ohio Division behind Lancaster (5-0) and had one Division I district qualifier in sophomore Cristian Salazar (113 pounds).

The Lions will be losing just three wrestlers to graduation.
