Grove City High School senior pitcher A.J. Peter turned in a dominant performance in leading the top-seeded baseball team to a 5-0 win over 30th-seeded Teays Valley in the second round of the Division I district tournament May 10 at home.

Peter tossed a no-hitter, striking out 11 and walking none. The Vikings had just one baserunner, resulting from an infield throwing error in the fourth inning.

“A.J. was lights out,” coach Ryan Alexander said. “He threw three pitches wherever he wanted and our guys love how fast he works. Brian Lee called an excellent game for us behind the dish. He was nasty back there as well. ‘Pete’ is such a team guy in everything he does in life. I’m so happy to see this happen for him.”

Grove City improved to 21-5 and will play 24th-seeded Dublin Jerome in a district semifinal Tuesday, May 16, at a neutral site to be determined.

The Greyhounds have won 14 consecutive games.
