The Cleveland Indians have signed Green High School graduate David Lough and assigned him to their Triple-A team, the Columbus Clippers.

The outfielder was released by the Detroit Tigers’ organization last week after batting .169 in 59 at-bats over 24 games with the Triple-A Toledo Mud Hens.

Lough, 31, batted .239 in 30 games with the Philadelphia Phillies last season before ending the year with the Phillies’ Triple-A team, the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, and the Miami Marlins’ Triple-A team, the New Orleans Zephyrs. He batted .256 between the two clubs.

A former 11th-round pick out of Mercyhurst, Lough has played in 342 major league games with the Kansas City Royals, Baltimore Orioles and Phillies.
