Gahanna Christian Academy senior baseball player Aaron Mertz was rewarded for a stellar season by being named MOCAL Player of the Year and second-team all-district in Division IV.

Mertz (SS/P) led the Eagles in batting average (.576) and RBI (8).

Freshman Ryan Barrett (P/C/SS) was named first-team all-league and honorable mention all-district, and sophomore Dylan Smith (C/P/1B) was named honorable mention all-league. Barrett batted .343, and Smith batted .333 and scored a team-high 10 runs.

The Eagles finished 3-9 overall and 1-6 in the MOCAL.

For the softball team, senior Arianna Wyant (P/INF) and freshman Michaela Grubich (SS/3B/P) were named first-team all-league. Grubich led the Eagles in batting average (.405) and runs (20), and Wyant was 7-7 with 56 strikeouts in 64 1/3 innings.

Freshman Olivia Sauder batted .367 with a team-high six doubles and was honorable mention all-league.

Gahanna Christian finished 7-9 overall and 2-5 in the MOCAL.
