Anna Piscopo had three goals and Anna Schildmeyer scored two during a 9-1 first-half run as the Upper Arlington High School girls lacrosse team rolled to a 20-6 win over Thomas Worthington in the Division I, Region 3 final May 26 at Olentangy.

The two-time defending state champion Golden Bears, who were the top seed, improved to 17-2 and advanced to a state semifinal May 30 with their second win this season over the second-seeded Cardinals, who finished 17-4.

UA won the first meeting 16-7 on April 4.

“Our transition game was really strong, both offensively and defensively,” Bears coach Wendy Pinta said. “The big key for us was locking down on their top, great attackers, Addie Hamilton and Jenna Rao, who combined for seven goals in our first (meeting). They had just one between them tonight.”

UA’s Olivia Schildmeyer broke a 1-all tie with 17 minutes, 47 seconds left in the first half to begin the run, which gave the Bears a 10-2 lead. Thomas pulled within 10-4, but UA scored twice in the final 1:21 of the half to take a 12-4 lead into halftime.

Anna Schildmeyer finished with four goals, Piscopo, Olivia Schildmeyer and Brenna Smith scored three apiece and Brooke Smith added two.

Tori Banks and Erin Baumann both had two goals for Thomas.
