A familiar face at Grove City Christian School will direct the girls basketball program.

Mindy Bankey, who guides the cross country program and shares track and field head coaching duties with Bryan Cook, has been named girls basketball coach.

She replaces Bob Williams, who stepped down after two seasons. The Eagles were 19-29 overall and 10-10 in the MSL-Cardinal Division under Williams, including 9-15 overall and 4-6 in the league last season.

“I love the kids and basketball really is my No. 1 sport,” Bankey said. “We have work to do, but I’m excited for the days ahead.”

Bankey was the team’s interim coach during the 2014-15 season. She began her career at the school as the middle school girls basketball coach from 2010-13 before moving to the high school level and has been the varsity assistant coach/junior varsity coach the past four seasons.

She played basketball and softball at Cedarville University, graduating in 1993.
