Hilliard Bradley High School is looking for three new coaches to lead spring programs.
Athletics director Eric Ryan said baseball coach Matt Gilkerson will not return. Ryan also confirmed coaching changes for the boys and girls lacrosse teams.
“We just wanted to head in a different direction and we really appreciate all that Matt has done for our baseball program,” Ryan said.
Gilkerson was the only coach the baseball program has had in its eight seasons. The Jaguars started 1-5 this spring but finished 16-13 overall and reached their first Division I district semifinal.
Bradley finished third (7-5) in the OCC-Cardinal Division behind Hilliard Darby (11-1) and Thomas Worthington (9-3).
The girls lacrosse team was led by another of the school’s original coaches in Becky Mottlow. This season, the Jaguars finished 4-15 overall and fifth (2-4) in the OCC-Cardinal behind champion Thomas (6-0).
Under first-year coach Hank Lewandowski, the boys lacrosse team finished 3-15 overall and sixth (1-5) in the OCC-Cardinal behind champion Dublin Jerome (6-0).
“Coach Mottlow decided it was time to take a break and boys lacrosse will also need a new coach,” Ryan said.
