During its 49-13 victory over Lakewood on Sept. 1, a sophomore listed at just 5-foot-4 and 136 pounds scored the first touchdown of the season for the Ready High School football team.

Running back Jack Foley has overcome his lack of size throughout a season in which the Silver Knights went on a five-game winning streak to put themselves in playoff contention in Division V, Region 19.

Ready beat London 27-23 on Oct. 13 to improve to 6-2. Through seven games, Foley had rushed for 1,000 yards and six touchdowns.

"He's a pretty tough kid to bring down and he runs with a little bit of power and quickness," coach Brian Cross said.

The Knights play Friday, Oct. 20, at Whitehall, looking to stay on track for a second consecutive postseason berth. The Rams are 5-3 after beating Bexley 56-0 on Oct. 13 and are battling for a spot in the Division II, Region 7 playoffs.

It's the last big playoff-point opportunity for Ready considering it closes the regular season Oct. 26 against Bexley at Fortress Obetz. Bexley is 0-8.

The Rams have won five of six after a 0-2 start. Through seven games, quarterback Raymell Byrd was 45-for-97 passing for 701 yards with six touchdowns and two interceptions and had rushed for 975 yards and 10 touchdowns on 140 carries.

Running back Rasheed Muhammad had rushed for 521 yards and five touchdowns.
