The six-time state champion Dublin Jerome High School boys golf team is well on its way to adding another championship.

The Celtics, who last won a state title in 2013, shot a 295 in the opening round of the Division I state tournament Oct. 20 at Ohio State’s Scarlet Course to lead the 12-team field.

Olentangy Liberty, the only other central Ohio team in the field, is second after shooting a 308. Green (312) is third.

The final round of the two-day event is Oct. 21.

Jerome’s Blake Solomon shot a 71 and leads the field. Jackson Chandler is second with a 72 and Mason Wagner is tied for ninth (75). Also competing for the Celtics are Davis Root (77) and Ethan Snyder (79).

Liberty’s Cole Corder and Trey Rath both shot 74 and are tied for sixth. Also competing for the Patriots are Grant Smeltzer (79), Josh Steyer (81) and Jacob Hickman (82).

Competing as individuals are Central Crossing’s Caleb Davern (tied for ninth, 75), and Thomas Worthington’s David LaLonde (tied for 58th, 88).
