Jeremiah Francis, the Pickerington High School Central boys basketball team’s standout point guard and a North Carolina commit, is expected to miss more than a month because of a left knee injury.

Francis said he is unsure of the exact nature of the injury, but plans to undergo a scope Dec. 12.

“Probably late January,” Francis said to ThisWeekSPORTS.com of his timetable to return.

Francis, a 6-foot-2 junior who committed to North Carolina in August, averaged 15.9 points, 4.2 assists and 3.7 rebounds last year as Central went 26-3 overall and 10-0 in the OCC-Ohio Division and lost to Cincinnati Moeller 57-47 in a Division I state semifinal.

The Tigers open Dec. 2 against Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary in the All-Ohio High School Hoops Showcase at Whitehall.

According to coach Eric Krueger, other potential point guards for Central include senior Juan Woods, junior Javohn Garcia and sophomores Connor Maciag and Tahleik Walker.
