The Pickerington High School Central boys basketball team lost its projected starting point guard to injury before the season, and now his replacement is out for the next few weeks.
According to coach Eric Krueger, 6-foot-3 junior Javohn Garcia sprained his right ankle Dec. 4 and is expected to miss a couple weeks.
Garcia scored 12 points in a season-opening 69-66 win over Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary in the All-Ohio High School Hoops Showcase on Dec. 2 at Whitehall.
He ran the point in the absence of junior Jeremiah Francis, a North Carolina commit who is out until at least mid-January with a left knee injury. Francis is scheduled to undergo a scope of the knee Dec. 12.
The Tigers improved to 2-0 with a 90-74 win over Dayton Thurgood Marshall on Dec. 5 and will play host to Pickerington North on Dec. 8 in the OCC-Ohio Division opener for both teams.
After the game against North, Central does not play again until Dec. 15 at Lancaster, then has games Dec. 19 at Groveport and Dec. 22 at home against Reynoldsburg before participating in the Battle at The Villages from Dec. 27-29 in The Villages, Florida.
