Africentric Early College girls basketball coach Will McKinney earned his 300th career victory with his team’s 101-22 win over Columbus South on Dec. 5.

McKinney has headed the program since its inception in 2003-04 and has guided the Nubians to a 300-60 record that includes state championships in 2007 and ’09 in Division IV and 2012, ’14 and ’16 in Division III.

The Nubians also have won nine City League championships, 11 district championships and eight regional titles under McKinney.

Last season, Africentric went 25-4 and lost in a Division III state semifinal.

The Nubians are 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the City League-South Division this season.

“It’s been a lot of hard work,” McKinney said of reaching the 300-win milestone. “We’ve won five state titles and had a large amount of kids go on to play at the next level, so I’m definitely proud of that.”
