Dana Stearns will be the first girls volleyball coach at Olentangy Berlin High School, pending school board approval.

Stearns went 39-30 the past three seasons at Canal Winchester, including 15-8 overall and 8-2 in the OCC-Capital Division last fall. It was the Indians’ best league record since going 11-3 in the MSL-Buckeye in 2011.

The 1997 Bexley graduate played women’s volleyball at Ohio State and played on the women’s basketball team as a senior. She also was an assistant girls volleyball coach at Chicago Whitney M. Young Magnet (2008-10) and Park Ridge (Illinois) Maine East (2012-14).

“Dana is a perfect fit for us,” said Berlin athletics director John Betz, a 1985 Bexley graduate. “She has great experience and she's a guidance counselor, which says she’s in it for the kids and understands their needs.”
