Upper Arlington High School boys basketball player Dane Goodwin added another honor to his storied career March 8 when he was named Gatorade’s Ohio boys basketball Player of the Year.

Goodwin, a 6-foot-5 senior forward and Notre Dame recruit, is averaging 24.2 points and 9.9 rebounds for the Golden Bears, who are 23-1 entering a Division I district final against Dublin Coffman on March 10 at Ohio Dominican.

Goodwin is UA’s all-time leading scorer (1,931 points) and rebounder (818) and also has been named OCC-Central Division Player of the Year and first-team all-district each of the last two years.

Goodwin is the second consecutive area player to win the Gatorade award, after Westerville South’s Kaleb Wesson last year. Wesson now plays for Ohio State.
