During the Ready High School boys basketball team’s Division III district semifinal March 6, senior guard Chanc Dawson surpassed the 1,000-point mark for his career.

Dawson scored 22 points as Ready beat Columbus Academy 64-56 at Hamilton Township to improve to 20-4. He now has 1,012 career points.

“I never really thought I’d do it, but I’ve been focused and confident in myself with scoring this season,” Dawson said. “I know it’s a hard achievement.”

Dawson’s senior teammate, Brady Thomas, also surpassed the 1,000-point mark earlier this season.

Dawson averages 18 points for Ready, which plays Harvest Prep in a Division III district final March 9 at Ohio Dominican.

“I didn’t know I had 1,000 points until I saw my coach with a ball in his hands in the locker room and he went down a line to talk about how good everyone played individually and saved me for last,” Dawson said.
