The DeSales High School boys lacrosse team scored 14 goals in the middle two quarters to rout second-seeded Buckeye Valley 19-3 in the Division II, Region 7 final May 24 at Fortress Obetz.

The top-seeded Stallions, who captured their first regional championship since 2013, led 3-1 after the first quarter, 10-2 at halftime and 17-3 after three quarters.

Connor O’Brien scored four goals to lead DeSales. Dante Fuller and Carter Hilleary each added two goals as the Stallions improved to 17-3 and advanced to play Cincinnati Mariemont in a state semifinal May 30 at Dayton Chaminade Julienne.

Goalkeeper Connor Thune made eight saves.

“Tonight’s win was huge,” Stallions coach Matt Triplet said. “This team is playing well together and (the players) are all focused on the step ahead of them. They have done a tremendous job of working together, supporting one another and are as close a family as I’ve seen in a while.”
