Emily Clubb and Korbin Martino found themselves as the last athletes standing for the Canal Winchester High School track and field team.

Clubb, a senior, competed in the girls discus final at the Division I regional meet May 25 at Pickerington North while Martino, a freshman, competed in the boys 400-meter final.

Martino finished second in the preliminaries May 23 with a time of 48.61 seconds, .01 of a second shy of the top time set by Luke Finnegan of Westerville Central and .55 of a second faster than the time that got Martino third place in the district 1 meet May 19 at Hilliard Darby.

The top four finishers in each regional event advanced to the state meet Friday, June 1, and Saturday, June 2, at Ohio State.

Competing May 23 but failing to advance to the finals were Torrance Thomas in the 100 hurdles (11th, 15.6), the 400 relay of Zach Akarri, Tanner Conley, Gibby Cornett and Tyler Toledo (11th, 44.19) and the 800 relay of Akarri, Cornett, Martino and Toledo (11th, 1:32.04).

Neither the girls team's 400 relay nor 800 relay made their respective finals. The 400 relay of Shalea Byrd, Ariana Coleman, Taylor Davie and Anaya Edwards finished 10th in 50.57 and the 800 relay of Byrd, Coleman, Edwards and N'Daia Hamilton was 11th (1:46.33).
