Seven central Ohio athletes competed in the U.S. Kids Golf Teen World Championships from July 26-28 in Pinehurst, North Carolina, including one who earned a top-five finish.

Anna Ritter, a New Albany resident who will be a freshman this fall, shot a 229 to finish fourth in the girls 14-year-old competition at Mid South Club. Luisamariana Mesones of Trujillo, Peru, was medalist (215).

While Ritter was the only central Ohio girl to compete in the national competition, six boys from the area participated.

In the 15-18 tournament on Pinehurst No. 2, Bexley High School senior Trevor Binau tied for 19th (230) as Stephen Campbell Jr. of Richmond, Texas, was medalist (216).

East Knox’s Drew Salyers tied for 22nd (231), Worthington Christian senior Tyler Jones tied for 39th (233) and Pickerington Central sophomore Blake Bennett tied for 59th (238).

In the 15-18 B tournament on Pinehurst No. 8, Olentangy Orange sophomore Nathan Brown finished 33rd (247) and Watterson freshman Carson Trafford tied for 43rd (251) as Daniel Montalvo from Mexico was medalist (231).
