Westerville North High School opened in 1975, but has never had an athletics hall of fame.

That will change Jan. 4 when an inaugural class will be inducted.

Athletics director Wes Elifritz is looking for nominations for that first group.

“Throughout its 43-year history, Westerville North has been home to many of the top student-athletes and athletic teams in central Ohio,” Elifritz said. “Fans of the Warriors have cheered on numerous district and regional titles, as well as six state championships from its teams. Many Warrior athletes have become individual state champions and earned all-Ohio honors in their respective sports. It’s time to recognize their accomplishments more formally with the creation of an athletic hall of fame.”

Nominations will be accepted through Oct. 31, with the induction class selection taking place in November by members of the hall of fame committee. The committee includes current and former administrators, coaches, teachers, student leaders and community members.

The induction ceremony Jan. 4 will include a dinner as well as a ceremony before that evening’s home boys basketball game against Westerville South.

Anyone wishing to nominate a former student-athlete, coach or friend of the program can obtain a nomination form at www.westervillenorthathletics.com. Forms also will be available in North’s main office and the school’s athletics office.
