It’s nearly that time again.

ThisWeek Community News will honor 159 of the top athletes and 12 coaches from our coverage area at the second ThisWeek Sports Awards fall banquet Nov. 28.

The banquet, held at Villa Milano, is sponsored by Nationwide Children’s Hospital Sports Medicine, Big Sandy Superstore and Everdry Waterproofing.

Nationwide Children’s Hospital Sports Medicine also was a sponsor for both the fall and spring banquets last school year.

“The entire focus of our team is on treating injuries in student-athletes and providing services to help them prevent injury,” said Lisa Kluchurosky, service line administrator at Nationwide Children’s Hospital Sports Medicine. “That’s why it’s so gratifying to partner with ThisWeek to honor these outstanding central Ohio young people who represent the thousands of student-athletes we care for who work so hard to excel in their respective sports.”

Big Sandy Superstore is a first-time sponsor.

“Big Sandy Superstore is proud to support our area’s teens and recognizes the value of the athletic experience that can help form outstanding leaders in all areas of our society,” CEO Robert VanHoose Jr. said. “Athletic skills can fade, but leadership and the disciplines learned can last a lifetime.”

The honorees will include the Super 25 football team with 35 on honorable mention and the Super 12 boys and girls soccer teams with 18 on honorable mention for both. Captains of those three teams will be announced at the banquet. The top five athletes in boys golf, girls golf, boys cross country, girls cross country, field hockey, girls tennis and girls volleyball as well as the top two in boys and girls water polo also will be honored. One honoree in each of those sports will be named Athlete of the Year, and the Coach of the Year for each also will be announced.

The finalists will be announced at noon Nov. 7 during a Facebook Live video at www.facebook.com/ThisWeekSportsColumbus. For athletes, your banquet invitation should arrive within a few days of the announcement. All athletes and coaches must RSVP by Nov. 21.

Villa Milano is at 1630 Schrock Road, Columbus. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the banquet starts at 7 p.m.
