After watching his teammates the last two Fridays, quarterback Seth White of the Bexley High School football team returned to lead the Lions to a 20-17 win over Granville on Friday.

The senior threw for 169 yards and a touchdown, ran for 155 and two touchdowns, kicked two extra points, had a 52-yard punt and played cornerback on defense as Bexley improved to 3-3 overall and 2-1 in the MSL-Ohio Division. Granville dropped to 5-1 and 2-1.

"To play against an undefeated team was a chance to prove ourselves and myself, also," White said. "It's the best feeling in the world."

A 91-yard drive in the first quarter gave the Lions a 7-0 lead. White had a 34-yard run on the drive, and capped it with a 10-yard touchdown pass to receiver Julian Coleman.

Granville cut the Bexley lead to four when Clint Howarth made a 29-yard field goal in the second quarter.

Defensive back Jon Thomas recovered a fumble and had an interception in the first half.

Bexley started the second half with a 10-play, 73-yard touchdown drive. The drive's highlight was a 24-yard pass from White to Thomas on a fake punt on fourth-and-9. White's 3-yard touchdown put
the Lions ahead 14-3.

"(The fake punt play) was something we saw on film where Granville rushes the ends and leaves the outside open," Bexley coach John Smith said. "I actually called the play off, but (White) ran it

Granville scored the next two touchdowns to take a 17-14 lead. The catalyst for the Blue Aces was quarterback Cory Becher, who threw for 301 yards on 20-for-44 passing, hit receiver Adam
Alderman for a 34-yard touchdown to cut the deficit to 14-9 with 5:42 left in the third quarter.

After a muffed punt gave Granville new life at midfield, Becher connected with Gino Ghiloni for a 27-yard touchdown pass. The touchdown gave the Blue Aces their first lead at 17-14 into the fourth

On their ensuing possession, White stole back the lead and the game. He ran for 31 yards on fourth-and-8 from the Blue Aces 39-yard line to set up his 4-yard touchdown run on the next play to put

Bexley up 20-17 with 5:05 left.

The defense forced six consecutive incomplete passes, recorded a sack and forced a punt in the closing minutes to seal the win.

"We got beat by a better team," Granville coach Mike Hensley said. "(Bexley is) a scary team."
