An early morning fire on Feb. 26 caused $75,000 in damage to an apartment building at 53 Neil St.

According to a release from the Delaware City Fire Department, residents of one apartment were awakened by smoke detectors and found heavy smoke coming from the apartment and roof area.

City firefighters along with trucks from Concord, Orange, Scioto and Liberty townships, the Tri-Township Fire Department and Delaware County EMS also were on the scene and worked to keep the fire from spreading to adjoining apartments.

One person was treated at the scene but refused transport to a hospital, according to the release.

Firefighters reduced the fire about 15 minutes after their arrival and had it completely extinguished 28 minutes after the call, according to the release. The blaze is still under investigation.

Police observed four men walking on a South Sandusky Road sidewalk and saw one fall down, unable to get up. Two of the men were arrested for disorderly conduct while intoxicated and a third was charged with disorderly conduct while intoxicated persistent.

Police saw a man sitting in a car in an East William Street parking lot and upon investigation saw a bag of marijuana in the vehicle. The man was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Delaware Children's Services is investigating a woman who left her 3-year-old daughter in a locked vehicle at a North Houk Road business for an extended period of time, according to a police report.

Someone broke into a home on Beech Drive and stole items valued at $4,500.

Police were called to a dorm room at Ohio Wesleyan University by campus police and arrested four men on underage drinking and drug abuse charges.

Police investigating a suspicious vehicle on Hayes Street found out the car was stolen. It was returned to the owner.

A laptop computer was reported stolen from a residence on Adams Lane.
