To the editor:

We appreciate and thank ThisWeek for the article about Brigadier Perry Lester Miles and Ohio Nature Education's Master Plan for the property.

For those of you who are not familiar with Ohio Nature Education (ONE), we are a nonprofit organization that was founded in May 1997. We provide a home for permanently injured wild animals that cannot be returned to the wild. These animals are incorporated into environmental education programs for people of all ages.

Since our founding, ONE has conducted more than 2,600 programs for more than 115,000 children and adults in 18 central Ohio counties. In 2008, ONE conducted 356 programs in 11 counties.

ONE is prepared, willing and able to fulfill the wishes of Perry Lester Miles to create a place where people from all areas can learn and enjoy nature. We are excited about helping the local schools by working with their curriculum and the academic content standards in addition to offering a number of programs annually at no charge to Johnstown and Northridge schools. We feel that we can create a tourist destination and project that all area residents can be proud of.

If you would like more information or to view our formal master plan, please go to our Web site at and hit the link at the top of the page "heard us on T-100 radio" or call at 740 967-8320, e-mail at Your feedback is needed and appreciated.
