Greg Peterson was elected mayor of Dublin on Jan. 12.

During Dublin City Council's first meeting of 2016, leadership was elected and new members sworn in.

Peterson, who served a term in the late 1990s and was elected again in 2014, was elected mayor.

John Reiner, who's been on council since 1997, was elected vice mayor.

Peterson and Reiner will serve for two years in the roles.

Dublin has a city-manager government, so the title of mayor and vice mayor are largely ceremonial. Both will attend events as representatives of Dublin and run council meetings.

Two new council members also were sworn in Jan. 12 as Christine Alutto and Chris Amorose Groomes took their seats on council for the first time.

Michael Keenan, a council member since 2004, also was sworn in for another four-year term.
