Just thinking about what sort of course of study The Four Freshmen are on. The foursome's first hit single, "It's a Blue World," was released in 1952. I've heard of the five-year plan, six-year plan and even the seven-year plan, but this is getting a little silly.
The current lineup - the last original member, Bob Flanigan, retired in 1992 - joins the Columbus Jazz Orchestra for concerts tonight, Saturday and Sunday at the Southern Theatre. The treat is having CJO director emeritus Ray Eubanks leading the shows, which are tributes to the Stan Kenton Road Shows of 1959 with the original Freshmen and singer June Christy. (Check out the names of players who came through Kenton's band.)
