Record industry giant EMI recently announced plans to cut up to 2,000 jobs worldwide.
We first heard the report on BBC Radio, and what struck us most was the report's background on EMI as "home of artists such as The Beatles and Robbie Williams." It was like hearing someone say "holidays such as Christmas and Arbor Day" or "bodies of water such as the Pacific Ocean and Antrim Lake." Seriously? Robbie Williams in the same breath as The Beatles?
Turns out Williams is a huge star everywhere except North America. He's his generation's Cliff Richard.
