Studlien, a Division III Defensive co-Player of the Year in 2007, missed the first two games as he recovered from offseason surgery to repair a torn ACL and meniscus in his left knee.

But he still led Big Walnut with 95 tackles in the regular season, including six for losses, and had two interceptions.

"He's an impact player for us," coach Scott Wetzel said. "He's not only someone who makes plays, but someone who makes everyone around him better. As soon as he came back, our defense was better. And he's probably only played at about 85 percent this year. He's not quite back to where he was last year."

The 6-3, 225-pound Studlien, a Northwestern recruit, was first-team all-district and all-OCC-Capital Division.
