To the Editor:
We cannot thank the Clintonville community enough for its tremendous support since my ALS diagnosis in 2010. We want to especially thank community members for their recent support of the Folk Music Sing-a-Long to raise funds for the ALS Association of Central & Southern Ohio Chapter.
Almost 250 of you showed up in the Maple Grove UM Church fellowship hall to sing and laugh and cry together. Together we raised more than $4,000! It was a great kick-off for our Bill's Backers ALS team.
There are some specific persons we want to publicly thank. First, folk music legend Bill Cohen for suggesting the event, his wife, Randi for running the soundboard, and his partner, Carl Yaffey. The Folk Ramblers offered a fun and interesting evening of recalling and laughing.
We continue to be thankful for the support of the Maple Grove congregation and staff, but especially Pastor Glenn Schwerdtfeger. A special thanks to Miriam Abbott for her extraordinary way of serving in the capacity of event coordinator and her willing helpers. And then, there's the community supporter extraordinaire, Anand Saha, for the donation of cookies by Mozarts.
We want to add a very special thanks to ThisWeek The Booster and reporter Kevin Parks for writing and including the insightful, informative and inspiring article in the paper the week before the event. It not only helped promote the event but very nicely caught people up with where we are on this journey. Thank you so much!
