To the Editor:

I have recently learned that Debbie Dunlap is seeking a position on the Reynoldsburg City School District's Board of Education. While I am not a resident of Reynoldsburg, I do feel that I can provide a unique perspective on Ms. Dunlap's qualifications for this position.

As the superintendent of the Whitehall City School District for 13 years, I had the opportunity to work closely with Debbie as she reported on our district for the local newspaper.

As a reporter, I found Debbie to be very thorough, professional and always fair. She did her homework and asked pertinent questions when researching her stories. One of her common questions was regarding the impact that decisions being considered at the board level would have on the students/staff. This type of understanding is obviously critical to the decision-making process for a school board member.

Debbie is also a positive and hardworking person who is desirous of making a contribution to her community. Her choice to seek a position on the board of education demonstrates this commitment. Her background in observing and reporting on the work of a school board gives her a unique insight and qualification to serve in this position.

Having worked with Debbie, I can say with confidence that she would make a thoughtful and competent Board of Education member for Reynoldsburg schools.
