To the Editor:

This letter is a two-parter. First, I would like to commend the leaf-collection crews for the wonderful job they did keeping our neighborhood leaf-free during November.

Second, on a decidedly negative note, I want to voice my disgust at Councilman DeCapua's comments in the recent UA News article on the city manager's raise.

In that article, he stated, "People are dug in like ticks that don't have the facts on any issues." If this is the way council members and the city manager truly feel about residents who oppose their plans, well, no wonder there is a communication problem.

As a decades' long resident and supportive taxpayer of this wonderful community who, it happens, favors a scaled-back plan for Northam Park and who considers herself somewhat literate and up to date on local affairs, I am deeply offended at being compared to a blood-sucking parasite. Talk about disconnect.

There are only two words I offer to Mr. DeCapua et al in the time leading up to the next council election: Don Leach.
