The eighth annual Bexley House and Garden Tour will feature several new sites as well as a few familiar features, said Bev Sapienza, tour co-chairwoman.

The Bexley House & Garden Tour is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 7. The tour features eight homes and gardens, in addition to the Garden of Distinction, which returns after a three-year absence. Free shuttle service to sites will be provided by Bexley BEAT.

"One of the sites was on the original tour, but they've done a lot of renovations, so it would be a fresh viewing," Sapienza said.

The houses featured on the tour each year are selected through a variety of ways, Sapienza said. While some homeowners volunteer their homes, other sites are discovered when tour organizers happen to drive past a house they think would be a good fit.

"We think, 'That would be as nice inside as it is outside and would be of interest to people,' " she said.

Throughout the tour, artists will perform music and create new works in covered areas outside of some of the residences.

"Some of them are visual artists and some of them are musicians," Sapienza said. "It's just a little something extra as people tour the homes."

The House and Garden Tour attracts a number of repeat visitors as well as those who are new to Bexley each year, Sapienza said.

"Some from the downtown area, some from Worthington and Westerville," she said. "We get people from all over the state. We've had people from out of state. It's from all over."

Tickets are available at BexleyWomen.org and will be available beginning Saturday, May 23, at the Bexley Coffee Shop, Bexley Graeter's Ice Cream and Bexley Pizza Plus. The advance ticket price of $20 is good through noon June 6. Day-of-tour tickets will be available at Columbus School for Girls, 56 S. Columbia Ave., at $25.

Proceeds from the event support the Bexley Women's Club scholarship program, which provides scholarships to high school seniors who reside in Bexley. Over the past 70 years, the club has supported more than 800 students with nearly $500,000 in scholarships.
