The top four finishers in each regional event advance to the state meet June 7 and 8 at Ohio State.

The top four in each district event advanced to the regional, and senior Tom Krajnak, senior Will Herriman, senior Connor Bowman and sophomore Nick Marino were runners-up in the 3,200 relay (8 minutes, 8.31 seconds) in the district 3 meet that concluded May 25 at Hilliard Darby.

On May 22 at district, the Cardinals had three athletes score team points, but they did not advance to regional. Senior Phil LaFleur missed qualifying by one place, finishing fifth in the shot put (46 feet, 11 inches). Junior David Heil was seventh in the shot put (46-0) and senior Daniel Schmeling was seventh in the discus (133-2).

Last season, Herriman, junior Ben Carlisle and senior Brady Wilson joined 2012 graduate Stevyn Spees on the sixth-place 1,600 relay (3:20.55) at regional. Wilson, senior Myles Everett, senior Jonathan Radney and Spees finished 11th in the 800 relay (1:32.09).

Herriman also was 15th in the 300 hurdles (42.04) as the Cardinals tied for 18th (13) behind champion Pickerington North (60) as 38 teams scored.

Lacrosse squadenters postseason

The fifth-seeded lacrosse team was 9-8 before opening the Division I Central Region tournament May 25 at fourth-seeded Pickerington Central.

The winner advanced to a regional semifinal May 29 against second-seeded Worthington Kilbourne or eighth-seeded Westerville Central.

The regional final is Saturday, June 1, at top-seeded Upper Arlington, third-seeded Thomas Worthington, sixth-seeded Dublin Coffman or ninth-seeded Westerville North.

The Cardinals lost to UA (15-4 on May 11) and Thomas (8-7 on May 15) during the regular season. They defeated Coffman (8-7 in overtime April 20) and Westerville North (6-3 on April 17). The regional champion advances to a state semifinal against the Southwest Region champion on Wednesday, June 5, at a site to be determined.

The state final is at 5 p.m. June 8 at UA.

Doubles team qualifiesfor district tourney

The doubles team of seniors Jack Groeber and Trey Stranges competed in the Division I district tennis tournament May 24 and 25 at Hilliard Davidson.

The top four finishers in singles and doubles advanced to state Friday, May 31, and Saturday, June 1, at Ohio State.

Groeber and Stranges opened district with a first-round match against New Albany's Nick Blair and Alex Kobelt.
