VOICEcorps reading service recently received a grant from the office of Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted to inform and educate voters with disabilities.

The service provides news and information in a broadcast format for people who are blind, or who have other disabilities and cannot access the printed word.

The $10,000 Voter Education for People with Disabilities grant will extend from July 2011 through the November 2012 general election. VOICEcorps was one of four organizations to receive a voter education grant.

The grant will allow VOICE corps to inform listeners of important election deadlines; upcoming election days; how to use voting equipment; and provide nonpartisan information on candidates and ballot issues. For more information on VOICEcorps, visit www.voice corps.org.
