This year's Clintonville Tour of Homes will not take place.

Because the annual fundraising event for the Clintonville Community Fund would have coincided with the 10-year anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States, board members have decided to postpone the event until the second week of September in 2012.

"It was a very, very difficult decision to make," Clintonville Community Fund president Todd Lusch said.

He said board members had decided not to disrupt the normal schedule for the Tour of Homes, which raises money for the Clintonville Community Fund that is used to provide grants to local organizations. But Lusch said it soon became apparent that some in Clintonville felt going ahead with the tour on that weekend would be "disrespectful."

"Sponsorships were not coming in as usual, so that kind of told us perhaps it wasn't a good idea to keep having it on the second Sunday in September, at least this year," Lusch said.

By delaying the Tour of Homes to 2012, he added, the event can be held in conjunction with the bicentennial celebration for Columbus.
