The Clintonville Rotary will screen the animated comedy Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted outdoors June 8.

The Movies in the Park series, as in years previous, will take place in the Lower Meadow area at Whetstone Park, between the Park of Roses shelter house and the river.

"Unlike past years, this will be the one and only Movies in the Park showing as the Rotary is making way for other fun events later in the summer," said Joni Lovett-Schlagenhauf, services project coordinator.

The plot for the third entry in the DreamWorks Animation series finds Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Gloria the Hippo and Melman the Giraffe still fighting to get home to New York City. Their journey takes them through Europe, where they join a traveling circus.

"This is a great movie for kids of all ages," Lovett-Schlagenhauf said.

The movie will begin at dusk, which is generally around 9 p.m. Those attending should arrive by at least 8:30 p.m. and bring blankets, chairs, bug spray and flashlights.

"This is our gift to the community and a great way to celebrate the end of the school year," said state Sen. Jim Hughes, current Rotary president, in a statement.

Families are encouraged to bring along a picnic dinner. Popcorn, movie candy and other refreshments will be available.

Admission is free.
